Inmarsat have now completed their successful satellite repositioning programme and are able to confirm the introduction of global coverage for the portfolio of broadband services—BGAN; FleetBroadband and SwiftBroadband and the deployment of the satellite phone services across two I-4 spacecraft. Looking ahead for 2009, Inmarsat are prepared with a new fully-optimized, fully-funded global I-4 constellation, complemented by their existing I-2 and I-3 satellites, the enhanced network helps them to provide high-quality, reliable services. The new global I-4 satellite regions are: • I-4 Americas at 98 degrees West • I-4 EMEA at 25 degrees East • I-4 Asia-Pacific at 143.5 degrees East • BGAN users (affected by the Asia Pacific outage) should now re-point their antennas to the I-4 Asia-Pacific satellite (use the updated BGAN LaunchPad to guide this process) • IsatPhone and LandPhone users (affected by the Asia Pacific outage) should now re-point their antennas to the I-4 Asia-Pacific satellite – channel numbers remain as 38, 48, 49 or 88 (see Updated Channel Map) • FleetBroadband, SwiftBroadband, and FleetPhone antennas will automatically track to the new satellite – no action is required |
